Robin Roberts Receives Highest Honor In Sports

The beautiful Good Morning America co-host and first African American sportscaster for ESPN, Robin Roberts,  stunned in red last night as she received the "Aruther Ashe Award" at the 2013 EPSYS awards.

The "Aruther Ashe Award" is the highest award in the sports industry and recognizes "strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril, and the willingness to stand up for their beliefs no matter what the cost."

Robin Roberts absolutely embodies all of these characteristics. After battling two serious illnesses, breast cancer in 2007 and a rare blood disorder in 2012, she never gave up. She kept viewers involved during both treatments and allowed them to watch her overcome each one.

She gave a very uplifting acceptance speech at the show. That is after LeBron James gave her a heartwarming introduction. Watch the speech below:

Robin Roberts is a true hero. We here at The Sass admire her courage and ability to overcome any obstacle. She is definitely an inspiration to all.

"It's not what we accomplish but what we overcome that we remember most." -Robin Roberts
