Jesse Jackson Jr. & Wife Sentenced To Jail Time

Somewhere in the world Jesse Jackson is shaking his head with embarrassment. Recently, his son Jessie Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi Jackson were both sentenced to prison time for misusing $750,000 in campaign funds. Dang homie!

The former Democratic representative of Illinois was sentenced to 30 months in prison with three years probation (he is not eligible for parole either) for spending campaign funds on personal items including a $14,200 signed poster of Michael Jackson and a $43,000 Rolex. While his wife was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution for concealing $580,000 in income from the couple's tax returns! Sheesh!

Jesse Jackson Jr. blamed his bipolar disorder for him stealing the funds. However, Judge Amy Berman Jackson (no relation) saw things differently

"The inescapable fact is that you and Sandra Jackson used campaign funds to sustain a lifestyle that you cannot afford."

As the sentence was read in the court room, Mr. Jackson started crying and apologizing to his parents as he accepted responsibility for his actions

"I am the example for the whole Congress, and I understand that. I didn't desperate my personal life from my political activity, and I couldn't have been more wrong."

After he was read his sentence the Jackson asked only that their sentences run concurrently in order to allow their children to have one parent present at all times. Mr. Jackson must report to prison on or after November1st. Once he is released, Mrs. Jackson will have only 30 days to surrender.

On whether or not he believes in forgiveness

"I still believe in the power of forgiveness. I believe in the power of redemption. Today I manned up and tried to accept responsibility for the error of my ways, and I still believe in the resurrection."

Can you believe this entire investigation stemmed from Mr. Jackson allegedly trying to buy the former Senate seat of President Obama?!! Crazy right?!! However, in the words of Nene Leaks, "You never win when you play dirty hunny." We guess the Jackson's learned the hard way
